Podignuta je u znak sećanja na izginule vojnike u čuvenoj Cerskoj bici (16 -19. avgust 1914. godine), u kojoj je srpska vojska odnela prvu pobedu u Prvom svetskom ratu. Na spomeniku se nalazi grb Srbije sa krunom i datum 18.08. 1914., a ispod njega tekst: VAŠA DELA SU BESMRTNA. Posmrtni ostaci srpskih vojnika sahranjeni su u kosturnici ispod samog spomenika. Ispred spomenika su 1989. godine postavljene biste srpskih vojvoda najzaslužnijih za pobede u Prvom svetskom ratu: Stepe Stepanovića, Živojina Mišića, Radomira Putnika i Petra Bojovića. U sastav memorijalnog kompleksa Tekeriš spadaju još i spomen česma i muzejska postavka Cerske bitke. Ceo kompleks je zaštićen kao spomenik kulture od posebnog značaja za Srbiju.
